I love to cook.
The hardest transition from stick house to full-timing in a 30' fifth wheel was paring down my kitchen essentials. The last boxes taken to our storage unit were full of kitchen utensils and small appliances.
I slowly moved items out of my home kitchen into boxes in the garage. To see what I could cook without. I wasn't trying to whittle my needs down to a Swiss army knife and single saucepan. But how many of my five frying pans did I need? How many saucepans and stockpots? Which knives? Could two utensils be replaced by one? How many cutting boards?
I made my best guesses, cooked in my pared-down kitchen, and added and subtracted items as I saw fit.
December 2011, we moved into our fifth wheel and the real RV cooking began.
A year later, we returned to our storage unit and retrieved a few kitchen items. Our RV had a lot more storage room than expected! We brought our waffle iron and large muffin tins out of retirement. We purchased a pizza stone and peel. Our friend, Mike, gave us his old food processor and electric tea kettle. And my stepmother gave us an electric frying pan.
We also purchased a springform pan and some stainless steel baking pans including a jellyroll pan, cookie sheet and and lasagna pan.
